YANNIS WOOD ART WORKSHOP
 
Yannis olive wood workshop is placed on the main road that goes from Corfu town to Paleokastritsa, exactly at the 14th km Corfu-Paleokastritsa.
Driving along this main road you will see the sign that shows our wood carving workshop.
Since 1994 Yannis, a local Corfiot who loves his job, has started his own production of marvellous kitchen tools, toys and different kinds of objects all made by carving local olive wood.
The trees chosen by Yannis and his family for his olive wood production are the century olive trees brought in Corfu Island by the Venetians in ancient age. These olive trees are seculars and they’re never cut.

They just cut a small portion that will be curved to produce artistic tools and permit to preserve trees that are still ancient memories of the Venetian domination in Corfu Island.
Every time a piece of olive wood is cut, has to stay into a dark room for a couple of years in order to loose very slowly its humidity and give a strong resistance to all the objects that will be created carving it.
During all the winter Yannis spend his time inside his workshop to curve the olive wood following his inspiration to produce so many different kinds of objects.
We suggest you to look all the kitchen instruments and some special olive wood pens that only here you can find.
All the objects made properly for cooking use can be washed (not in washing machine) without problem and can be in contact with any kind of food.
During your holidays on Corfu Island we hard recommend you a visit to this olive wood workshop for a nice gift that in the winter will be a warm memory of your summer in Corfu.
