CITY
Corfu is a real city
with its marvelous old town centre (well described in
our "Old
town" section) and
the modern part where the most of the inhabitants of the
island live.
The newest area is a modern city with its cars, its noise,
its beautiful squares and any kind of services.
Corfu has different ports; the new one where the ferry
boats arrive from the mainland and from Italy, and some
smaller pears used by fishermen and local boats owners.

BEACH
Corfu does not have a real beach and
since there are ports and the airport the sea is not really
clean comparing to many other parts of the island.
HOW TO MOVE
Corfu has a huge bus connection that covers both the city
and the suburb areas. There are daily runs to the all
most important tourist villages of Corfu island.
It’ also possible to take for rent cars, jeeps,
motorbikes or bicycle to move all around the island.
Moreover from Corfu town there are ferry boats that can
take you to Igoumenitsa and Patra and to all the small
islands that surround Corfu like Paxos, Antipaxos, Vido
and Pontikonissi.


WHERE TO LODGE
If we consider all the nice tourist villages we can find
around the island, maybe it’s not the better choice
to search for an accommodation in Corfu town, as it is
a big city. For those who prefer anyhow to stay inside
the town, there are several hotels both in the new and
in the old part of the town.
SHOPS
Corfu is a city, so in the modern part, as in old town
centre you can find any kind of shops and services like
banks or post offices.
Inside the old own there is a large number of tourist
shops that sell typical products and handcrafts of Corfu
island. 

AMUSEMENTS
In Corfu town there’s a large variety of places
where you can spend the evening or night. Both in the
newest and in the old town you can easily find coffee
shops and cocktail bars.
Some nice and romantic places are also near the port and
the old fortress.
A relaxing walk and a pleasant dinner in a traditional
Corfu restaurant are strongly suggested for couples or
families.
Corfu is a really charming town, the best place for an
unforgettable sunset or a lovely walk through its narrow
streets.
